- Kurzweil 3000.35563 is available as a free download on our software library. The most popular versions of the program are 15.2, 14.1 and 14.0. Kurzweil 3000 is included in Education Tools. Our built-in antivirus scanned this download and rated it as 100% safe.
Navigate to the Kurzweil 3000 Mac download website, 2. Select the link labeled Kurzweil 3000 Version 15 (web license). Do not select the standalone version. Once you select the above link, wait for the installer to download. Depending on your browser, the installer will appear on your desktop or in your Downloads folder. Install Kurzweil Web License and applicable updates in the Download Center, noting that the download may take up to several hours. Reference Kurzweil Installation Guides for Mac and PC as needed. Faculty, staff, and student employees must contact the Help Desk for installation on TCSPP computers.
Kurzweil Information
Kurzweil 3000 text-to-speech software can help you read faster and improve your focus. You can use Kurzweil to read the web, including e-textbooks viewed through a browser. You can also open almost any electronic file type with Kurzweil 3000, including Word, PDF, HTML, EPUB, and many others.
Anyone with a CPP email address can use Kurzweil for FREE! With the campus license purchased by DRC, there are 3 ways you can use Kurzweil:
- Read web pages (including Blackboard) using the Read the Web Chrome browser extension
- Use the web-based appto read PDF, Word, and other document formats on any device connected to the internet
- Download and install the full Kurzweil 3000 software on your PC or Mac for full Kurzweil functionality
Create your free Kurzweil account:
- Create a free account with Kurzweil using your @cpp.edu address. (Note: External ID is not required.)
- You will receive a confirmation email from Kurzweil Education Customer Service with your username and password, so SAVE this email!
- Once you have your Kurzweil login, you are ready to use the web application (kurzweil3000.com) from any device with a browser and an internet connection.
Use the Read the Web extension:
We recommend using Chrome browser extension to read the web (Firefox extension not recommended).
- Download and install the Read the Web extension from the Chrome webstore
- Follow the prompts to install the extension.
- After the extension is installed, restart Chrome.
- You'll notice a color square icon button near the top-right of your web browser. You can click on that button to expand the Kurzweil overlay.
- Enter your Kurzweil username and password to log into the Read the Web add-on.
- Click the play button to start reading content on a web page. It may be a good idea to select text you want to read first, or place your cursor at a location on the page before you start to read.
Use the web-based app to read documents:
Kurzweil software, free download
You can use Kurzweil3000.com to read documents on any device with an internet browser and connection.
- You can open many different types of documents, including PDF, Word, and EPUB.
- You can upload and save documents in your Universal Library.
- You can also open documents from your computer or that are stored in Google Drive.

Download and install Kurzweil 3000:
For additional functionality, including offline, install Kurzweil 3000 on your PC or Mac.- Download the Web License version installer file (for Windows or MAC)
- Install the software on your computer
- Log in to the software using your Kurzweil username and password. You will need to be connected to the internet the first time you log in. After that you will be able to use Kurzweil offline, if necessary.

Please remember that although all CPP students have access to Kurzweil, only a small group of students registered with DRC are eligible for alternate media accommodations. Only students eligible for alternate media accommodations may receive their textbooks in Kurzweil format through DRC. Sharing Kurzweil files created by Alternate Media Services with other students is strictly prohibited, and may be reported to the CPP Office of Student Conduct & Integrity.

Download and install the software
Following are instructions for installing Kurzweil 3000 Web License version for macOS. Before beginning installation, make sure any existing version of Kurzweil has been uninstalled from your workstation.
- Go to Kurzweil 3000 Macintosh Downloads, select Version 20 (subscription/web license), and then save the file to your workstation.The
.dmg
file is large and may take between 30 minutes to an hour to download. - When the download is complete, find the
.dmg
file in yourDownloads
folder, and then double-click it to open it. - When prompted, select Kurzweil 3000.pkg.
- In the installation window, select Continue to begin the installation.
- When the installation is complete, double-click the Kurzweil 3000 icon to launch the application. If you get a security warning, click Open to continue.
Sign into Kurzweil 3000
When you launch Kurzweil 3000 Web License version, you will be prompted to enter your Kurzweil 3000 username and password. Use the username and password provided to you by your administrator. If you don't have a Kurzweil 3000 password, or forgot it, see Reset your Kurzweil 3000 Web License account password.
