If you are or want to be a Java programmer – you need to install JDK on your mac. It can be done on a few easy steps.
1. Download JDK

It includes the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), an interpreter/loader (java), a compiler (javac), an archiver (jar), a documentation generator (javadoc) and other tools needed in Java development. The Java Development Kit (JDK) is essential for Java developers and contains the Java runtime environment as well as the Java compiler and other Java libraries. If you want to write some Java code on your Mac, you will need the JDK to run your code. In macOS 10.6 Snow Leopard and below Java was pre-installed and shipped with your Mac. There are a number of different Java packages available, for this tutorial we will be installing Java Standard Edition (SE) on Windows. - Accept the license agreement
- Click the jdk-8u121-macosx-x64.dmg (.dmg file meant to be mac)
- Double Click on the .dmg file to start to install the JDK once you download complete.
2. Install JDK
- Double click on the package installer.
- Click on the continue button.
- Enter the password to continue the install
- Finish / close the button.
3. How to Test JDK is installed

- enter java -version
- The above command should display the version. (refer the below screenshot)
